Coach Shawn Nugent is currently the Varsity Boys Volleyball Coach at Hingham High School. A program he began in 2022 as an instructional program that became a varsity team in the Spring of 2024
•Coach Nugent began his volleyball career in the 1990’s at Sweet Home High School in Amherst, NY playing varsity volleyball all four years. He also played club volleyball at Rutgers and Kean University in New Jersey
•His first coaching experience came at the division three collegiate level where he was the assistant coach for Kean University Women’s program for two years (1999-2001)
•Coach Nugent moved to Massachusetts in 2002 and served as the Varsity Boys Coach at North Quincy for one season. His teaching in Massachusetts career began at Old Rochester Regional High School where he also was the JV coach for their girls volleyball program for three years
•For the last 20 years Coach Nugent has taught at Hingham High School and served as the JV coach for the girls volleyball team for a decade.
Coach Nugent’s mission at MGA is to help build the boys side of the program and work to provide players with solid coaching and a positive team experience.
